Ratko Varda: He stopped training and pointed at me

Jordan stopped training and pointed at me: Ward has revealed the strong words of an NBA legend that he will remember forever!

Ratko Varda evoked memories of the period spent in Washington with the “flying ones”. Ratko Varde’s rich, successful, long, and colorful professional basketball career is over.

At the age of 38 (born on May 6, 1979, in Bosanska Gradiška), the former Partizan basketball player decided to say “enough” and say goodbye to the game that made him famous and gave him many beautiful moments and incredible adventures around the world.

His career, which lasted 22 years, is a story in itself, but one period is more special than all the others: playing with the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan!

After leaving Detroit, Warda became a franchisee from the capital of the USA, and there he had the opportunity to share the hall with “his flying majesty” every day.

– The scenes were really amazing, from the meeting when we met. Next to you is probably the greatest player in history – Varda recalls.

Although he had a supporting role in the team, Ward earned respect from Jordan himself.

– I remember that once he stopped training, said “none of you have that thing but him” and pointed at me. Then, due to an injury, I missed one part of the training camp for a while, so I thought that they would “torture” me, because the roster was one name longer. But they kept me. Later, I heard that the main “culprit” for that move was Jordan – said, Varda.

The freshly retired Serbian center played in his career for Partizan, Detroit, Washington, Olympia, Apollon Patras, Besiktas, Kiev, Real Madrid, Menorca, Zalgiris, Khimki, Prokom Gdynia, Olimpija, Azovmash, Mahram Tehran, Radnicki Kragujevac, Mega Vizuru, Byblos, Kožuv, Sutjeska and Hekmeh (Jordan).

A curiosity is that he played for three national teams, Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia
